Gentlemen,
I have the honour to state that my transfer to
the English Civil Service is being applied for: and that it
will be suggested that the appointment shall date from
September 1st last. I therefore ask, in the event of the
transfer being effected, whether I shall be required to refund
the salary already drawn by me for September from the Colonial
Office? and, if so, will you kindly state the sum that I
drew. The object of this letter is to put on record that it
was not my intention to endeavour to draw two salaries for
suggest one month without official recognition and would therefore
that this letter shall stand in abeyance until the question
comes before you in due course.
I have the honour to be,
Gentlemen,
Your most obedient Servant,
(Signed) Richard F. Drury.
Assoc. Mem. Inst. C.E.
To
The Crown agents for the Colonies.
